News Updates

At Oaklands, we have always placed a great deal of importance on Infection Control, evidenced by a healthy, clean environment, clear processes to prevent and contain infections and close collaboration with the local Infection Control team.

Keeping Our Residents Safe

In order to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken a number of measures to ensure the safety of our residents, their loved ones, our staff and visitors.  Some of these are listed here:

Additional hand gel units and hand sanitisers around the Home;
Posters and instructions on proper handwashing and sanitising techniques at all handwashing and hand sanitising stations;
Ample PPE for staff and additional PPE for loved ones (where applicable);
Strict, robust cleaning procedures, including additional and frequent cleaning of shared surfaces and communal spaces;
Closely following local and Government guidance.

Life Through the COVID-19 Pandemic

We have done our best to keep everyday life as close to normal as possible, making use of our beautiful gardens and outdoor space, continuing with daily activities and enjoying the delicious home cooked food prepared by our talented Chef.

We have always been so proud of – and visitors have often commented on – our open and welcoming environment.  We are sad to have had to restrict visitors to the Home under the COVID-19 pandemic, but have been doing our utmost to maintain the warm and friendly atmosphere that Oaklands has always been renowned for. This has been hugely helped by our residents, their loved ones and our team of staff – very much a case of us "all coming through this together".

Whilst Oaklands has broadly been closed to visitors, we have been welcoming garden and window visits (whilst implementing appropriate social distancing) and have been supporting loved ones with video calls.

Latest Visiting Policy

We would like to thank all our residents and their families for their love and understanding throughout these challenging and unprecedented times. We are extremely grateful for your support.

Updated: 15.12.2021

We are keen to ensure that visiting is still able to take place in order to enable residents to see their families and friends, especially with Christmas just around the corner. However, in light of emerging evidence and clinical advice relating to the Omicron variant of Covid-19,  we have implemented further steps from today to keep your loved ones here at Oaklands safe and protected.

Please refer to our letter from 15th December 2021 which provides further detailed information and instructions to ensure we manage the visits safely and effectively.
