Staff Training and Development

Oaklands would not be where it is without its dedicated team of staff, many of whom have been with us for years, and others who have joined the team recently, bringing with them fresh, innovative ideas and a real drive for quality.

Oaklands has a strong commitment to staff training and development, as reflected by our home's accreditation of the Investor in People standard; an independent measure of staff support and development. Training is coordinated by our dedicated trainer- from skills in guidance and mobility and procedures in maintaining a safe environment, to understanding and responding effectively to specialist needs.

The Oaklands' team works closely with external professionals to improve the services offered at Oaklands and share best practice, including regular attendance at meetings and forums, involvement in pilots (most recently the Hydration, Mouthcare Matters, CAUTI, and the Deteriorating Resident pilots) and close communications with the visiting Advanced Nurse Practitioner, GP, Occupational Therapists, Tissue Viability, Infection Control team and our Commissioners.

Our aim is to provide consistently high standards of care, treating every resident with respect and warmth; staff are selected for their positive attitude, interest and commitment.

Oaklands is committed to ensuring that all members of staff and job applicants receive equal treatment, regardless of any protected characteristics such as age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
